Community + Global engagement
Community and Global Engagement (CGE) provides opportunities to understand and serve the world around us. Not only are we seeking to walk alongside neighbors in our community but in Northern Arizona and throughout the world. As ministers of reconciliation, we are called to love by building personal relationships through partnerships, local and far. In an increasingly diverse and globalized world, many of our neighbors live on the other side of cultural divides. We must intentionally move toward these neighbors, both locally and globally, to show the love of Christ, for the spread of the Gospel, and the building up of His church.
Our local and global efforts have a reciprocal relationship of blessing and sharpening one another. In a world full of hurt and brokeness, we want to show visible, practical love to our community as we work for justice and flourishing by helping to create safe and healing places in our homes, in our community and in communities around the world. It's a sacred honor to walk alongside neighbors and share our lives so that we might see transformation. Guatemala trip with Champions in Action
We are excited to partner with Champions in Action, we deeply value the work they do in mentoring at risk youth, seeking transformation in the gospel through the universal language of soccer in Guatemala.
We will be partnering with Champions in Action to facilitate their Girls Team Soccer Camp for the week - this helps them launch a year of mentorship, team growth & skills with girls in their program! You don't need to have experience with soccer or be fluent in Spanish (though those are really helpful!) to come on this trip.

Second Saturdays is one way we engage and strengthen our local Flagstaff community. The vision is to build bridges between and empower the local church and leaders that wrap around the needs of at-risk populations. Second Saturdays does this by coming alongside organizations that already serve these populations full time and we offer them assistance in the areas that these organizations need the most. Providing bodies as well as time for non-profit organizations is a huge need in our community that enables these amazing organizations that are already doing great work to focus on their mission instead of projects and to-do lists. Our hope is to empower organizations by encouraging them in their work and creating space for them to focus on their missions, as well as providing volunteers who believe in their calling to be the hands and feet of Christ.
We partner with a few community organizations that serve children and families, neighbors that are experiencing homelessness and are unsheltered, as well as foster, biological, kinship and adoptive families . The projects may include anything and everything that the organizations need. Most service days are 2-3 hour projects, but there is also Parent’s Morning or Afternoon Out with Flagstaff Foster, Kinship & Adopt families where we provide 3 hours of childcare to families for a day of respite and recovery for the incredible parents and guardians of some remarkable kiddos. Some of the tasks we might complete include sort through donations and backpacks at local shelters, painting projects, complete needed tasks for teachers at the schools, do yard-work, clean and organize spaces and the list goes on and on. All these tangible tasks help organizations continue strengthening our community and creating safe and supportive environments.

Sheri Williams
I am a Missouri native who has lived in Flagstaff for 12 years with my husband and two adult kids. I was blessed to have been born into a Christian family that was big on serving and caring well for others. All these years later, I still love serving and supporting our community alongside my church family. I really appreciate how Second Saturdays makes caring for others as simple as just signing up and then showing up!

Immigrant Family Food share
We believe we are called to walk alongside the sojourners, asylum seekers and immigrants in our community. Through building relationships and close proximity, we partner to provide fresh culturally appropriate groceries through a local food share for families a few times throughout the month. During food shares we will unload and organize donations and assemble them in boxes to distribute and engage with families. It’s more than just food distribution; it’s an opportunity for us to get to know our neighbors, love them, and serve as the hands and feet of a God who provides for His creation.We work to build community supports and care for families through relationship and advocacy. Indigenous Neighbors
There are 22 federally recognized tribes in Arizona. Tribal lands make up approximately 27% of the land in the state, and Indigenous people represent approximately 6% of Arizona's population. The largest tribal territory and population is the Navajo Nation, which spans 27,413 square miles over three states and borders the Flagstaff region.We work with indigenous leaders and emerging leaders in our community and throughout the state to build deeper relationships, to earn trust and to heal wounds from the past harm and violence that the indigenous community has experienced.

Leadership Development
We believe that developing leaders happens through many different avenues. Discipleship and growth can happen through organic moments of living life together as well as through intentional structure. We are called to "equip the saints for the work of ministry". In part, this means helping the diverse members of the body of Christ serve God in every area of life, including their vocations. It also means training men and women to serve the church as lay leaders, scholars, pastors, and church planter.
One intentional opportunity for leadership development is Surge School. This is a 9 month, intensive leadership development program churches use for discipleship and training of leaders for their churches, workplaces, and all areas of our city. Over 1000 leaders in Arizona have graduated from Surge School and now several other cities across our nation are also participating. CLICK HERE to learn more about Surge School.
