Vince Garvey

Lead Pastor
About Vince

I grew up in the south in a small town just outside New Orleans, LA. It seemed everyone I knew went to church except for my family so God and Christianity didn’t play any real role in my youth. It took a move in high school to California where almost no one I knew did the “church thing”, to finally see God for who he is.

While studying at San Diego State University for my undergrad, God captured my heart and my life. It did not take long for me to desire a future marked by vocational ministry. After a few years serving predominantly overseas with the Jesus Film Project I felt God pulling me home and into the pastorate. I’ve been serving in that role through Redemption Church since 2009 and as Lead Pastor of Redemption Flagstaff since 2012.

As the lead pastor I oversee our elder and staff teams and the ministries they run, craft and implement our vision and do a majority of the preaching on Sundays. I married my wife Verity in December of 2010 and now we’ve got two amazing boys we call our own. I love them more than anything. I love the church and am daily thankful to be a part of moving her closer to Christ. I love the mission we have been entrusted with. And I love this amazing city we get to call home, Flagstaff, Arizona

Anthony Gee

Pastor of Community and Discipleship
About Anthony

I am Pastor of Communities and Mentorship at Redemption Flagstaff. This means I try to get people into community with each other in all sorts of ways. One way is through our Redemption Communities. Another way is through mentor/mentee relationships, where those more mature in the faith walk alongside and mentor those younger in the faith. I do a handful of other things at Redemption Flagstaff, which include occasional preaching, pre-marital counseling, leadership development, and a lot of other things.

A little bit about me, I grew up in the Church and believed in God because I watched my Dad’s prayer life and knew that he wasn’t crazy and just talking to himself. However, as I hit my junior high years I started to dislike going to church and being a part of the church. I was finding my identity in being funny more than anything else. In the midst of all that, I still had this hunger to be loved and known by God. Well the reality was God did know me and love me, I just didn’t realize it yet. The summer after 9th grade, the Holy Spirit showed me his love for me in a way that spoke directly to me at a summer camp. Every since then, I have been diving deep into my relationship with Jesus.

I am married to a wonderfully spunky woman named Jessica who I met in college at ASU. We are both from Phoenix originally. We have an even spunkier 2-year-old daughter named Amelie. We lead an RC in Sunnyside together and have been up here at Redemption Flagstaff, since it first started in 2012.

Kailey Jensen

Director of Community & Global Engagement and Foster Care, Kinship, & Adoption
About Kailey

I lead the Community and Global Team here are Redemption Flagstaff with the intention to to help our staff, congregation and community partners lean in, love Flagstaff deeply and demonstrate the gospel. Through community partnerships like the Peak School, Az1.27, Champions in Action, Second Saturdays, Summit High School, and ongoing community initiatives we build relationships, support and engage in meeting needs in our community. I also run our Foster, Kinship and Adopt initiatives that include many ways to support and encourage foster, kinship and adoptive families in our church as well as throughout the city of Flagstaff. While raising awareness for the great need in Arizona, resourcing with agencies, facilitating trainings and support group open to all foster, kinship & adoptive families in Coconino county, supporting families in becoming licensed and navigating the child welfare system here in Flagstaff. I am passionate about supporting children and families here in our community and in our state.
After attending NAU and working internationally for a few years in Global Development and with NGO’s caring for vulnerable children, I returned to Flagstaff. Bringing a background in Women and Gender Studies, and experience in NGO’s and non-profits, child welfare, behavioral health, youth ministry and community development – the goal is to continue developing and deepening our relationship with partners and families in our cities to share the gospel in places that we step into. In so many ways this is an answer to my dreams of engaging the faith community in caring for the needs of the vulnerable in our city, state and world. I am so thankful to be in this community and live out the gospel in Flagstaff!
I love exploring the beautiful of southwest kayaks and hammocks whenever possible and making the rounds of all the delicious coffee places in Flagstaff!

Jess Tenery

R/Kids Director & Ministry Support Administrator
About Jess
I am the director of R/KIDS and a ministry support administrator at Redemption Flagstaff. This
means that on a week to week basis, you will see me greeting our children and families,
welcoming new families to the church, serving in our kids’ classrooms and working closely with
volunteers. Relationships with our volunteers and families are the center of our ministry, so I try
to grow and engage with those as much as possible. Throughout the week, I work on lessons,
activities and enhancing our growing kids’ ministry so that it can be as engaging and gospel
centered as possible. I also support our ministries in various ways by attending events, helping
registration and filling in the gaps where they are needed. I love my role because it allows me to
jump around between all our ministries and engage with our church and city.
I grew up in Tucson, Arizona and never went to church as a kid. It wasn’t until my sophomore
year in high school when my friend invited me to go to church with her that I started to learn
about the church and building any form of faith. Then, my senior year of high school God
opened my heart to what He had to offer, and I began to follow Him on my own. I have been
building my relationship with Jesus and my faith ever since.
I moved to Flagstaff in August of 2015 when I began attending NAU. Since then, I have
graduated with a degree in Social Work, started work with Redemption, continued to build
relationships and learned to call Flagstaff home. I love our little mountain town and can’t wait to
see what the Lord has for me here!

Randy Morris

Lay Elder
About Randy

I have the privilege of being an elder at Redemption Flagstaff, most likely due to the fact that I am one of, if not the oldest person who attends this church. My heart is in mentoring and discipling men to inculcate Godly disciplines that produce a lifestyle of “living out the Gospel”,
a life long endeavor, one which I am still traversing. My wife and I cherish the friendships  that have been built over the years of mentoring. I co-lead classes from time to time at Redemption Flagstaff, meet regularly with the other elders/pastors for study, accountability, prayer and church related issues. I am a scripture memory advocate and will continue that habit all the days of my life.

I have been a Christian since Junior High School. The Lord was gracious and revealed the truth and transforming power of Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade in Tempe, Arizona.
I met my wife Kelli at Westmont College and we were married in 1985. We have three grown daughters.
I am the President of Westfork Construction in Sedona, Arizona.

Carly Smith

Director of Second Saturdays
About Carly
I am the Second Saturday Coordinator here at Redemption Flag. That means that I meet with program coordinators for helping organizations around Flagstaff and partner with them to provide free labor. I then gather up volunteers through sign-ups and online forms, and help facilitate the events on the day of service each Second Saturday of the Month. Second Saturdays officially launched in February of 2017 and the amount of work that God is accomplishing through the sacrificial giving of our volunteers has grown beyond my wildest imagination!
I have been going to church my entire life, and started at Redemption in August of 2013. I came to know Jesus when I was very little, but I think I began a true fellowship of servitude and devotion to the Lord when I was 19 after my freshman year of college. I have a Bachelors in Social Work and a Bachelors of Science in Sociology, and use these degrees to work with Juvenile Probation as a Youth Care Worker III Skills Trainer. I am married to my amazing husband Austin, who you will see running sound, serving other people, and sometimes playing piano on the worship team.
Romans 12:1
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Hannah Romero

Sunday Coordinator
About Hannah
I am the Sunday Coordinator at Redemption Flagstaff. This means that on
Sundays, you will find me overseeing each of our incredible volunteers and
assisting the other members of our staff in the set-up of our church.
Throughout the week I work on tasks to support our congregation which
includes, scheduling our church announcements, planning Sunday morning
events, depositing our weekly giving and supervising our interns.
I grew up in Peoria, Arizona and first started to learn about Jesus in high
school. My basketball coach and teammates really helped me see what living
a gospel centered life looked like. I began to regularly attend church with my
teammates/friends and truly began to develop a relationship with Jesus after
a year of going. I am thankful for the people God put in my life throughout
high school, as they helped open my eyes to what it means to follow Jesus
and listen to his commands.
I moved up to Flagstaff five years ago to attend Northern Arizona University.
Since moving to Flagstaff, I have graduated and received my bachelor’s
degree in Business Management. During college I interned for Redemption
for two years and then was asked to take over as our Sunday Coordinator.
I feel blessed to have the opportunity to learn more about what it means to
follow Jesus by serving the church and being a part of His people.

On Being a Local Congregation of Redemption Church

Redemption church is multi-congregational in structure. This means that a central governing body provides structure, direction, and support for the ministry of each local congregation. Local congregations, like Redemption Scottsdale, are united and collaborative, but each has its own leadership and is free to contextualize its efforts. Click on the link below to learn more about the overall structure of Redemption.

We are a non-denominational church with a Reformed view of salvation. We believe that all of life is all for Jesus. We have been saved by grace through faith, which is itself a gift. That gift empowers us to be a transformed people who embody His redemptive power and participate in the renewal of all things.

Learn More

We are a sent people. As the church we are not called to turn inward and build our own kingdom. We are called to turn outward and give ourselves to the spread of the Gospel, the establishment of healthy local churches, and the multiplication of disciples. This is a call to invest beyond our church, beyond our tribe, and beyond our generation.

Community and Global Initiatives

We strongly believe that all members of the body of Christ are sent people, called to proclaim and demonstrate the gospel to the world. Therefore our community and global efforts should never be limited to structured programs. However, in response to the needs in our community, and God's heart for the nations, we do build global partnerships and facilitate opportunities to participate in God's mission of blessing the nations in Christ.
