Each Redemption Church congregation is led by a team of local elders and staff. The unified body of Redemption (all congregations) is overseen by a Leadership Team.
I grew up in the south in a small town just outside New Orleans, LA. It seemed everyone I knew went to church except for my family so God and Christianity didn’t play any real role in my youth. It took a move in high school to California where almost no one I knew did the “church thing”, to finally see God for who he is.
While studying at San Diego State University for my undergrad, God captured my heart and my life. It did not take long for me to desire a future marked by vocational ministry. After a few years serving predominantly overseas with the Jesus Film Project I felt God pulling me home and into the pastorate. I’ve been serving in that role through Redemption Church since 2009 and as Lead Pastor of Redemption Flagstaff since 2012.
As the lead pastor I oversee our elder and staff teams and the ministries they run, craft and implement our vision and do a majority of the preaching on Sundays. I married my wife Verity in December of 2010 and now we’ve got two amazing boys we call our own. I love them more than anything. I love the church and am daily thankful to be a part of moving her closer to Christ. I love the mission we have been entrusted with. And I love this amazing city we get to call home, Flagstaff, Arizona
I am Pastor of Communities and Mentorship at Redemption Flagstaff. This means I try to get people into community with each other in all sorts of ways. One way is through our Redemption Communities. Another way is through mentor/mentee relationships, where those more mature in the faith walk alongside and mentor those younger in the faith. I do a handful of other things at Redemption Flagstaff, which include occasional preaching, pre-marital counseling, leadership development, and a lot of other things.
A little bit about me, I grew up in the Church and believed in God because I watched my Dad’s prayer life and knew that he wasn’t crazy and just talking to himself. However, as I hit my junior high years I started to dislike going to church and being a part of the church. I was finding my identity in being funny more than anything else. In the midst of all that, I still had this hunger to be loved and known by God. Well the reality was God did know me and love me, I just didn’t realize it yet. The summer after 9th grade, the Holy Spirit showed me his love for me in a way that spoke directly to me at a summer camp. Every since then, I have been diving deep into my relationship with Jesus.
I am married to a wonderfully spunky woman named Jessica who I met in college at ASU. We are both from Phoenix originally. We have an even spunkier 2-year-old daughter named Amelie. We lead an RC in Sunnyside together and have been up here at Redemption Flagstaff, since it first started in 2012.
Director of Communications, Women's Ministry, and City Engagement
I am the Director of Redemption Flagstaff’s Communications which looks like managing web content, graphics, and media. I also facilitate and implement local mission through the oversight of the Redemption Flagstaff Dream Team, comprising of Redemption congregants who are seeking to bless their neighbor and our city. Along with these roles, I lead a Freshman and Sophomore Women’s RC where I seek to equip and disciple young women.
I grew up going to church on Sundays in Texas but never quite “got it.” I began to feel the need for something more when my family relocated to California in 2007. The summer of my sophomore year of high school The Lord opened my eyes to see him as my savior. Since then I continue to seek what it means to know and love Jesus with my whole life and whole heart.
I have lived in Flagstaff since 2010 and met my wonderful husband Josh here. We were married June 2015 and I could not be more thankful for the picture of Christ I get to see in our daily lives.
I have the privilege of being an elder at Redemption Flagstaff, most likely due to the fact that I am one of, if not the oldest person who attends this church. My heart is in mentoring and discipling men to inculcate Godly disciplines that produce a lifestyle of “living out the Gospel”,
a life long endeavor, one which I am still traversing. My wife and I cherish the friendships that have been built over the years of mentoring. I co-lead classes from time to time at Redemption Flagstaff, meet regularly with the other elders/pastors for study, accountability, prayer and church related issues. I am a scripture memory advocate and will continue that habit all the days of my life.
I have been a Christian since Junior High School. The Lord was gracious and revealed the truth and transforming power of Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade in Tempe, Arizona.
I met my wife Kelli at Westmont College and we were married in 1985. We have three grown daughters.
I am the President of Westfork Construction in Sedona, Arizona.
I lead the Foster Care and Adoption Team for Redemption Flagstaff, this includes any and many ways to support and encourage foster and adoptive families in our church as well as throughout the city of Flagstaff. It also includes raising awareness for the great need in Arizona, answering lots of questions, resourcing with agencies, facilitating trainings and support group meetings, supporting families in becoming licensed and navigating the child welfare system here in Flagstaff. I am passionate about supporting children and families here in our city and in our state; I’m excited to see our church living out the gospel in our community!
This is my second round living in Flagstaff, I moved back last year and am loving our sweet mountain town! I worked and lived in Kenya and Uganda for about two years after going to NAU for Women and Gender Studies and International Relations. I was born on the east coast but consider myself an Arizonan as the west has stolen my heart. Growing up, I remember getting a new dress for Easter and Christmas church services but it wasn’t until my dad started working for Young Life that I began to see that this whole Jesus-thing was so much more then I ever thought. Getting to watch kids wrestle to understand what it means to have a relationship with Him, challenged and inspired me, and ultimately allowed me to begin my wrestling as well. Through community of Young Life and church in high school and college I grew deeper in my relationship with Jesus and am so thankful for intentional community along this journey. Now, I am so thankful to be living out the gospel with friends and community in ways that deeply impact our city in Flagstaff!
I grew up in a Christian home and have being going to church for as long as I can remember. It wasn’t until I moved to Flagstaff though that I truly began to see God’s plan and love. Redemption Flagstaff helped to transform my “church” life into something much deeper and that there really is no distinction between my so called church life and personal life, but that as we always say, “All of Life, All for Jesus”.
You’ll most likely find me out running or on a hike with my wife Bianca and our dog Def Leonard.
As the Sunday Volunteer Coordinator, I help to plan and organize the various volunteer efforts at Redemption Flagstaff. We aim to provide opportunities for all in our church to serve God and our congregation in a fun, healthy, Christ-centered way that blesses our church, our city, and our savior.
On Being a Local Congregation of Redemption Church
REDEMPTION'S MULTI-CONGREGATIONAL STRUCTURE
Redemption church is multi-congregational in structure. This means that a central governing body provides structure, direction, and support for the ministry of each local congregation. Local congregations, like Redemption Scottsdale, are united and collaborative, but each has its own leadership and is free to contextualize its efforts. Click on the link below to learn more about the overall structure of Redemption.
We are a non-denominational church with a Reformed view of salvation. We believe that all of life is all for Jesus. We have been saved by grace through faith, which is itself a gift. That gift empowers us to be a transformed people who embody His redemptive power and participate in the renewal of all things.
We are a sent people. As the church we are not called to turn inward and build our own kingdom. We are called to turn outward and give ourselves to the spread of the Gospel, the establishment of healthy local churches, and the multiplication of disciples. This is a call to invest beyond our church, beyond our tribe, and beyond our generation.
We strongly believe that all members of the body of Christ are sent people, called to proclaim and demonstrate the gospel to the world. Therefore our community and global efforts should never be limited to structured programs. However, in response to the needs in our community, and God's heart for the nations, we do build global partnerships and facilitate opportunities to participate in God's mission of blessing the nations in Christ.
