Leadership

Each Redemption Church congregation is led by a team of local elders and staff. The unified body of Redemption (all congregations) is overseen by a Leadership Team.

Andie Szyman

Director of Communications, Women's Ministry, and City Engagement
About Andie

I am the Director of  Redemption Flagstaff’s Communications which looks like managing web content, graphics, and media. I also facilitate and implement local mission through the oversight of the Redemption Flagstaff Dream Team, comprising of Redemption congregants who are seeking to bless their neighbor and our city. Along with these roles, I lead a Freshman and Sophomore Women’s RC where I seek to equip and disciple young women.

I grew up going to church on Sundays in Texas but never quite “got it.” I began to feel the need for something more when my family relocated to California in 2007. The summer of my sophomore year of high school The Lord opened my eyes to see him as my savior. Since then I continue to seek what it means to know and love Jesus with my whole life and whole heart.

I have lived in Flagstaff since 2010 and met my wonderful husband Josh here. We were married June 2015 and I could not be more thankful for the picture of Christ I get to see in our daily lives.

Andrew Lundgren

Director of Finance and Operations
About Andrew

I grew up in a Christian home and was saved at age 8. While I was a moral Christian: attending church, led Bible studies, and read my Bible, it wasn’t until college through a Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) Bible study that I fully understood what it meant to be a disciple of Jesus.

Since college, I have come to have a greater understanding of immense joy that comes in fully submitting to Jesus.

I married my wife, Leah, in December of 2011.

As Director of Finance and Operations, I help give leadership in the day to day operations of the church, freeing up our Lead Pastor to dedicate more time to preach, shepherd, and cast vision for our congregation.

Anthony Gee

Pastor of Community and Discipleship
About Anthony

I am Pastor of Communities and Mentorship at Redemption Flagstaff. This means I try to get people into community with each other in all sorts of ways. One way is through our Redemption Communities. Another way is through mentor/mentee relationships, where those more mature in the faith walk alongside and mentor those younger in the faith. I do a handful of other things at Redemption Flagstaff, which include occasional preaching, pre-marital counseling, leadership development, and a lot of other things.

A little bit about me, I grew up in the Church and believed in God because I watched my Dad’s prayer life and knew that he wasn’t crazy and just talking to himself. However, as I hit my junior high years I started to dislike going to church and being a part of the church. I was finding my identity in being funny more than anything else. In the midst of all that, I still had this hunger to be loved and known by God. Well the reality was God did know me and love me, I just didn’t realize it yet. The summer after 9th grade, the Holy Spirit showed me his love for me in a way that spoke directly to me at a summer camp. Every since then, I have been diving deep into my relationship with Jesus.

I am married to a wonderfully spunky woman named Jessica who I met in college at ASU. We are both from Phoenix originally. We have an even spunkier 2-year-old daughter named Amelie. We lead an RC in Sunnyside together and have been up here at Redemption Flagstaff, since it first started in 2012.

Michael Anderson

Sunday Volunteer Coordinator
About Michael

I grew up in a Christian home and have being going to church for as long as I can remember. It wasn’t until I moved to Flagstaff though that I truly began to see God’s plan and love. Redemption Flagstaff helped to transform my “church” life into something much deeper and that there really is no distinction between my so called church life and personal life, but that as we always say, “All of Life, All for Jesus”.

You’ll most likely find me out running or on a hike with my wife Bianca and our dog Def Leonard.

As the Sunday Volunteer Coordinator, I help to plan and organize the various volunteer efforts at Redemption Flagstaff. We aim to provide opportunities for all in our church to serve God and our congregation in a fun, healthy, Christ-centered way that blesses our church, our city, and our savior.

Randy Morris

Lay Elder
About Randy

I have the privilege of being an elder at Redemption Flagstaff, most likely due to the fact that I am one of, if not the oldest person who attends this church. My heart is in mentoring and discipling men to inculcate Godly disciplines that produce a lifestyle of “living out the Gospel”,
a life long endeavor, one which I am still traversing. My wife and I cherish the friendships  that have been built over the years of mentoring. I co-lead classes from time to time at Redemption Flagstaff, meet regularly with the other elders/pastors for study, accountability, prayer and church related issues. I am a scripture memory advocate and will continue that habit all the days of my life.

I have been a Christian since Junior High School. The Lord was gracious and revealed the truth and transforming power of Christ at a Billy Graham Crusade in Tempe, Arizona.
I met my wife Kelli at Westmont College and we were married in 1985. We have three grown daughters.
I am the President of Westfork Construction in Sedona, Arizona.

Vince Garvey

Lead Pastor
About Vince

I grew up in the south in a small town just outside New Orleans, LA. It seemed everyone I knew went to church except for my family so God and Christianity didn’t play any real role in my youth. Contrast that with a move in high school to California where almost no one I knew did the “church thing”, I had no expectation for God to show up like he did.

In a nutshell 5 non-believers and 1 nominal Christian decided to start a bible study (I taught the second week). As the summer went along we all gave our lives to God. By the end of the summer that bible study had grown to over 50 of our friends, most of which were new converts. I look back at that summer and am blown away by how God took a bunch of unbelieving sinners, let us teach His word, and redeemed each and every one of us.

I graduated from San Diego St. University with a double major in Communication and Interdisciplinary Studies (a fancy way of packaging 3 minors: Religion, History, and Judaic Studies). After school I joined staff with the Jesus Film project and in 2009 I moved to Phoenix, AZ to intern for Redemption Church Tempe. 3 years later myself and a team of 9 moved to Flagstaff to plant Redemption Church Flagstaff and we have loved every minute of it since.

As the lead pastor I oversee our elder and staff teams and the ministries they run, craft and implement our vision and do a majority of the preaching on Sundays. I married my wife, Verity, in December of 2010 and we had our first child Finley in August of 2014. Daily I learn just how good and sovereign God is that he gave me them and our community in Flagstaff to call home.

Jacob Loughry

Intern
About Jacob

As an intern I get to learn all of the ins and outs of church and ministry. On a given Sunday, I and the fellow interns are the first ones there and we set up pretty much everything from Kids to communion. The internship provides great mentorship and insight and helps us grow in our faith. I feel like through close relationship with the staff and leadership I am able to grow more in my own faith.

I came to know Christ my junior year of High School, I had an idea of who he was from going to church but this summer we had an alone time at a camp and I closed my eyes to pray and opened my eyes to a shooting star. Since then I have been able to see God more fully for who he is and my life has been radically changed. He continues to change my heart and draw me closer to him.

Curtis Chance

Worship Director
About Curtis

I have been a Christian my whole life. I grew up here in Flagstaff with a wonderful family, great church and friends. But at the age of 16 I finally encountered Jesus. I attended a youth conference in Colorado called Desperation. This organization taught me that what matters in this life is the love of the Father, our pursuing him and his Kingdom here and now everyday. From then until now I can say Jesus has altered the trajectory of my life. All this time I had a desire to pursue Jesus through music. I have always loved worship sets. I love the fact that we have a God that longs for the praise of his people. I love seeing people worshiping him. I love standing next to thousands of people in one heart seeking the heart of Jesus, there is nothing like it.

When I was 18 I moved to Colorado and joined the internship for the youth camp that I attended. It was a year-long internship that included vocational ministry training and an opportunity to be involved in prayer meetings. This internship taught me about theology, communication, youth and college ministry and how to run a worship team. This season of my life I can honestly say was my favorite.

When I moved back from Colorado I began working in youth ministry for a parachurch organization called The Merge that was run by my parents and I. It was open to high school and college students every Friday night and gave them the opportunity to worship and hear a message about the pursuit God. During these 5 years I met the woman that would become my wife. We were married in June of 2012. In January of 2013, my wife and I started attending Redemption Flagstaff and it has grown to be our new family and home.

Kailey Jensen

Director of Foster Care & Adoption
About Kailey
I lead the Foster Care and Adoption Team for Redemption Flagstaff, this includes any and many ways to support and encourage foster and adoptive families in our church as well as throughout the city of Flagstaff. It also includes raising awareness for the great need in Arizona, answering lots of questions, resourcing with agencies, facilitating trainings and support group meetings, supporting families in becoming licensed and navigating the child welfare system here in Flagstaff. I am passionate about supporting children and families here in our city and in our state; I’m excited to see our church living out the gospel in our community!

This is my second round living in Flagstaff, I moved back last year and am loving our sweet mountain town! I worked and lived in Kenya and Uganda for about two years after going to NAU for Women and Gender Studies and International Relations. I was born on the east coast but consider myself an Arizonan as the west has stolen my heart. Growing up, I remember getting a new dress for Easter and Christmas church services but it wasn’t until my dad started working for Young Life that I began to see that this whole Jesus-thing was so much more then I ever thought. Getting to watch kids wrestle to understand what it means to have a relationship with Him, challenged and inspired me, and ultimately allowed me to begin my wrestling as well. Through community of Young Life and church in high school and college I grew deeper in my relationship with Jesus and am so thankful for  intentional community along this journey. Now, I am so thankful to be living out the gospel with friends and community in ways that deeply impact our city in Flagstaff!

Sydney Huetter

2016 - 2017 Intern
About Sydney

I’m from Tucson, AZ, and am currently studying Elementary Education at NAU. As an intern, I help set up the Orpheum on Sunday mornings and serve wherever I’m needed as a volunteer. I also work with church staff during the week to carry out office tasks and to be discipled by them. Both of my parents worked in ministry before I was born, so I have been involved in the church my whole life, but it wasn’t until high school that I began to make my faith my own. God has since called me to be a missionary, so I seek to answer that call daily by serving my community in Flagstaff.

James Bauerle

Worship Leader
About James

I grew up a fairly nomadic life, mostly wandering around Oregon. My father was an incredible pastor

much of my childhood, so I grew up in the church (we spent a lot of time at church, so literally, I grew up

at church). During my several attempts at college, I spent a few years truly doubting God’s existence and

set that whole part of my life aside. Through the unbelievable love of God being shown through a few

incredible people; I learned the God truly loved me, a fact that shouldn’t be so revolutionary, but for me

it was.

As a worship leader at redemption, my hope if for this community to fall deeper in love with the God

who so deeply loves us. I don’t believe that worship is merely a service to “recharge” us, but should be a

time to wrestle with, thank, and most of all adore God.

I am married to an insanely brilliant and loving lady named Emily, and we have 2 sons (Elias and Cedar)

that keep us full of joy and lacking in sleep. We love to be outside as much as possible, cook ridiculous

food together, and occasionally build a yurt.

On Being a Local Congregation of Redemption Church

REDEMPTION'S MULTI-CONGREGATIONAL STRUCTURE

Redemption church is multi-congregational in structure. This means that a central governing body provides structure, direction, and support for the ministry of each local congregation. Local congregations, like Redemption Scottsdale, are united and collaborative, but each has its own leadership and is free to contextualize its efforts. Click on the link below to learn more about the overall structure of Redemption.

REDEMPTION'S BELIEFS AND PRACTICES

We are a non-denominational church with a Reformed view of salvation. We believe that all of life is all for Jesus. We have been saved by grace through faith, which is itself a gift. That gift empowers us to be a transformed people who embody His redemptive power and participate in the renewal of all things.

REDEMPTION'S OUTWARD FOCUS

We are a sent people. As the church we are not called to turn inward and build our own kingdom. We are called to turn outward and give ourselves to the spread of the Gospel, the establishment of healthy local churches, and the multiplication of disciples. This is a call to invest beyond our church, beyond our tribe, and beyond our generation.

Community and Global Initiatives

We strongly believe that all members of the body of Christ are sent people, called to proclaim and demonstrate the gospel to the world. Therefore our community and global efforts should never be limited to structured programs. However, in response to the needs in our community, and God's heart for the nations, we do build global partnerships and facilitate opportunities to participate in God's mission of blessing the nations in Christ.
