I grew up in the south in a small town just outside New Orleans, LA. It seemed everyone I knew went to church except for my family so God and Christianity didn’t play any real role in my youth. Contrast that with a move in high school to California where almost no one I knew did the “church thing”, I had no expectation for God to show up like he did.
In a nutshell 5 non-believers and 1 nominal Christian decided to start a bible study (I taught the second week). As the summer went along we all gave our lives to God. By the end of the summer that bible study had grown to over 50 of our friends, most of which were new converts. I look back at that summer and am blown away by how God took a bunch of unbelieving sinners, let us teach His word, and redeemed each and every one of us.
I graduated from San Diego St. University with a double major in Communication and Interdisciplinary Studies (a fancy way of packaging 3 minors: Religion, History, and Judaic Studies). After school I joined staff with the Jesus Film project and in 2009 I moved to Phoenix, AZ to intern for Redemption Church Tempe. 3 years later myself and a team of 9 moved to Flagstaff to plant Redemption Church Flagstaff and we have loved every minute of it since.
As the lead pastor I oversee our elder and staff teams and the ministries they run, craft and implement our vision and do a majority of the preaching on Sundays. I married my wife, Verity, in December of 2010 and we had our first child Finley in August of 2014. Daily I learn just how good and sovereign God is that he gave me them and our community in Flagstaff to call home.
